RACING CLUB BALL.

A BRILLIANT FUNCTION,

The Eoxton Racing Club’s initial ball, held iir the Town Hall on Thursday night, was a brilliant success from every point of view and the combined committee responsible for the details are to be congratulated upon the success which attended their efforts. The decorative scheme of the ball room consisted of a festoon of blue and white streamers (the club colours), interspersed with balloons, Chinese lanterns, >uul greenery, while the stage was arranged as a drawing-room. ~y the ladies presented a brilliant spectacle which eclipsed anything previously seen locally. The music supplied by Smith’s orchestra (Palmerston N.) was all that could be desired in this connection, while the M. Messrs Jewell, W. E. Barber and Litigat'd, did all possible, to cater for the social welfare of the function. The chaperons were Alesdames W. E. Barber, W. Jewell, F. and" C. -Robinson. The officials of the (dab were prominent in their endeavours to cater for the enjoyment of guests. A special word of praise is due to the splendid catering arrangements as carried out by Air .1. Walls and bis capable staff - of assistants and nothing but praise was heard in this connection. An apolngy for absence was received from Mr J. Unklater, ALP., owing to Parliamentary duties. Visitors were present from Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Wanganui, Palmerston N. and adjoining districts. The following is a list of a number of t hose present.
