ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT AT PALMERSTON X.
Between 6 and 7 o’clock last night a single man named Charles Lowe Fenton, residing in Palmerston N. was knocked down and fatally injured. It appears (hat a motor car driven by Mr T. Avery, also of Palmerston X., was proceeding in a southerly direction along Main St. Mv Fenton, who had been leading his bicycle along the footpath, apparently attempted to cross the road at the end of the taxi-stand fronting the railway station. The car driver had no idea of (lie unfortunate man's proximity until the car crashed into I lie deceased, at the..end of the line of cars. Mr Avery immediately picked up the injured man, called a doctor and hastened to the Palmerston N. Hospital, hut on arrival there life was found to be extinct.
Mr J. Tclfer, who was in charge of the erection of the new gas holder, at Palmer-lon X., slipped and fell from Ihe top of (he holder inside the huge tank. Tfe was picked up in an unconscious condition and removed to the hospital where lie was found to have sustained extensive injuries to his head and shoulder. Mr Telfer is now progressing favour;! hi v.
A little hoy named Ceorge Page!, from All faints' Children’s Home, Palmerston X. was knocked down bv a motor cal' yesterday. He was conveyed to the hospital where he was reported to he progressing favourably, his injuries not being of a serious nature.
