ACCIDENT IN UNION STREET
BOY KNOCKED DOWN BY
MOTOR CAR
The ten year old son of Mr. George Blanche met with a serious accident in Union street on Sunday afternoon, necessitating his removal to the Palmerston North Hospital. In company with others he was kicking a football on the street when a cal' driven by Mr. N. Ross happened along. The car swerved away from the boys, but struck the lad, who had crossed the road after the ball. The boy was knocked down and the car passed over him, but fortunately the wheels cleared-riiis body. He sustained a broken arm, and three of his ribs were fractured. He was conveyed to the Palmerston Hospital, where lie is progressing satisfactorily. The lad had a miraculous escape from what appeared certain death. The driver of the car took every precaution to avoid a collision, and the accident, according to an eye witness, was unavoidable in the circumstances. '
