TTOR OWTTENUA COUNTY COUNCIL’S PLANS APPROVED.

Tlie Main Highways Board, which met in "Wellington last weekapproved of' a general scheme of rending works for various parts of the Norili Island Main road project's, totalling £200,000, have been approved by the "Main Highways Board, including a great bitumen highway from Wniknnne to Tokolnaru.

This' highway is that proposed by the Horowliei-iua County Council, the plan- for which were prepared by the County Engineer Mr W. N. Anderson. Tbe total cost will be C 145.000, of which the board and the local authorities will pay half each. The length will be 40 miles and the width IS feet. The work will he spread over three years and the board’s expenditure for the current financial year will be .(.'24,008.
