GAS WORKS
APRIL WORKING.
The amount of gas manufactured during the month of April was 539,200 ft.. which, with the amount in the ladder on April Ist., 16,400 ft., made a. total of 555,600 ft. During the month 437,900 ft. were used by consumers, 20,500 ft. in street lamps, 20,500 ft. at the works and there was 15,000 ft. in the holder on May Ist., making a total of 509,900 feet, and leaving 45,700 ft. representing 5.2 per cent, unaccounted for. Forty-eight tons of coal were carbonised during the month, producing 11,233 e.ft. to the ton. The receipts for the month totalled £294 12/2, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting), £ll9 19/9, heat and power £l2O coke sales £27 5/4, tit tings £23 .12/11, miscellaneous £1 11/2. The expenditure for the month totalled £213 13/7 and was made up as follows: —Coal £124 15/11, salaries and wages £6l 0/8, fittings, pipes, etc., £2l 4/5, general repairs £2 2/1, tools 16/6, insurance 9/1, stores £1 14/2, working expenses £1 18/11, interest and sinking fund £59 11/8.
GAS MANAGER'S REPORT.
The gas manager reported that the apparatus is working quite satisfactorily and is in a fair state of repair. New rings were fitted in the large gas engine during the month. There is still a big demand for coke and there is at least 100 M tons of coal in stock at present..— Adopted.
