PAINFUL ACCIDENT
A somewhat severe accident betel! Mr Ernest Ball on Sunday afternoon, through a slasher he was using for die purpose of securing some manuka sticks, inflicting a gash on his left leg, from the ankle upwards. It appears that Mr Ball went to the locality known as Robinson’s Lakes, for the purpose of securing a quantity of sticks. Tie was unaccompanied and after the accident was compelled to walk the whole distance to Foxton. a feat, which, in view of the floss of blood sustained and the fact that the wound was so severe as to include the severance of the tendons of the foot, was most remarkable. On account of the doctor’s unavoidable absence, Mr Ball had to wait some hours before medical attention was available. In the meantime he received first aid at the hands of Dr Rowley. We are informed that Mr Ball is suffering from shock and loss of Blood as well as pain from the wound, the severity of which may he gathered from the fact that twenty-one stitches were inserted. The injuries are of such a serious nature that it will he some weeks before Mr Ball will he able to get aboiit again.
