PLUNKET SOCIETY
The monthly meeting of the Foxton branch of the above was held in the Blanket Room yesterday afternoon. Present: Mesdames F. Robinson (president), Austin-Johnston, Proctor, Downes, Trueman, Baker, Rowley, Christie, and MeMurray (hon. secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames F. McDonald, Hynes, Owen, Walton, A. Ross and Rimmer.
The nurse's report showed that live visits had been paid to Foxton; adults visits to office JO, babies 48, and new cases one.
The secretarv reported that the day for the nurse’s visit had been changed from Friday to Thursday. This, no-doubt, had been responsible for fewer visits to the office by mothers mid babies.
Mrs Baker's appointment as a member of the committee was continued.
The secretary reported that a donation from Hr E. Healey of 50 tins of baby talc powder for distribution had been received with thanks.
The Committee agreed to purchase u set of scales for the use of the nurse n t the office.
A resolution was passed expressing the committee’s appreciation of the action of the Borough Council in establishing a rest room for women and children. Mesdames Ansthi,-Johnston and MeMurray, who represented Foxton branch at the recent meetings in connection with “Save the Mothers” campaign in Palmerston North, gave a brief report of the proceedings. Mesdames F. Robinson and MeMurray were appointed a visiting committee for the month and the former (lower steward.
