Roeommendationn whieh the Wellington Rugby Union is making for the Imperial Conference include the reduction of points for the drop? kick from four to three, and the formation of an international board to consist of two delegates each from England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, South Africa, New South Wales and New Zealand.

Practices will be held in Stevenson’s gym on Thursday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. Senior: Hui-Mai v. Foxton, at Foxton, Mr W. Neville; Junior: Monta v. Awahou at Foxton, Air J. Dunn; Thirds: Shannon v. Foxton, at Shannon, Mr T. McDonald. Fourths: L.D.H.S. v. Foxton at Weraroa Mr R. Ivingi.
Messrs Smith and Stnrkie have donated a medal to be presented to the Foxton player who scores the last try in the Foxton-Hui Mai match, to be playe on Easton Park on Saturday.
HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION
The weekly meeting of the Hornwlienua Rugby Union was held at Levin ou Tuesday evening, the president. Air E. .T. Nash, being in the chair. Also present were Alessrs O'Rourke, S. Austin, Hardie, Hutchins, F. Robinson, R.innner and the secretary, Afr L. Carmichael. The Auckland Rugby Union wrote asking that the Union support a protest to the New Zealand Rugby Union against players reinstated from the League code being refused consideration in the All Black team, and stating that this bar amounted to a broach of faith between the Rugby Union and the pinycis. They stated that there was nothing in the English Rugby Union’s attitude to make ibis necessary,* ihesc players being wholly amateur. Decided to support the protest. It was decided that the AwahouMiranni Junior game he replayed -lioubl it make any difference to the f np jinal. better- regarding a number of injured players were received.
The chairman stated that*an a"TPemcnt had been arrived at that, where a player gave an order the Union was prepared to pay the doctor’s charges up to the amount allowed by llii' Union namely £6. E. H. Barber wrote asking for a transfer from the Shannon to the Moutoa Club. —Granted. The State SC book Otaki, put in a challenge for the Austin Primary School Banner at present held by Hie Levin D.IT.S. The Weraroa and Moutoa Clubforwarded their balance-sheets for last year. Regarding the proposed trip l< * piny the Nelson Union. Mr Robinson staled that a number of players had intimated to him that they were willing to contribute a share towards the expenses of the trip. He would advocate that if this offer were accepted the money should be refunded if the trip proved a financial success. The secretary stated that the trip to Nelson would cost £l5O and all that could be hoped from the gate.would he £75. Under the circumstances it would be impossible to travel. There were games owed to other Unions and these must he the first consideration of the Union. ROUGH PLAY.
A number of uames of players who had been cautioned by the referees at games were submitted by the Referees Association. The Association wrote that a rule had been made that the names of all players cautioned, and also the names of spectators whom it was found necessary to caution, must be reported to the Association by referees. A record of all cases would be kept and if apy man came up again, it would be possible to discover whether he had been in trouble before and for what reason.
The ruling met- with the general approval of the meeting, speakers sin ting that it was one in the right direction. A motion to. this effect was passed. PIN ANCEB. The treasurer's report showed that the gate receipts for the season up-to-date amounted to £72 4s 2d, insurance was £l9 12/-, aihliation fees £lB 15/-, and sundries 111 lb/7. The main items of expenses were referees’ expenses £5, refreshments, etc. and donations of ioolballs to primary schools £l9 10s and sundries £9 7/0. CLASSIFICATION. The secretary brought up the question ol classification, stating that selectors should be appointed to attend matches for the purpose of classifying players. The chairman proposed that Mr Hone McMillan be selector for the northern portion of the Union, and AD- J. Puli for the southern end. Mr Hardie moved an amendment that the Referees’ Association nominate players for classification. The secretary stated that as classification was the work of the
Union it could not he delegated to any other body. The motion as put was carried unanimously.
The South Island Possibles and Probables in the try-out for the selection of the All Black team, played a great game at Christchurch yesterday before upwards of 6,0(10 spectators. The game euded: Probables 23, Possible 22. As a result of fbe match the following have been selected to represent the (South Island against Noilli at Wellington on Saturday;—
Full-back. —Fnirbroiher (South Canterbury); three-quarters: Steel, (West Const), Gilmour (Southland) and Roliilliard (Canterbury). Fiveeighths: AlcGregor (Canterbury), and D. Perry (Otago) captain. Half back: St. George (Otago). Wingforward: Parker (Canterbury). Hookers: AlcCleary (Canterbury'), and Alunro (OtagoL Lock Alasters (Canterbury); supports: Richardson (Southland), Stewart (South Canterbury); back row: White (Southland) and Turpin (Canterbury). Emergency backs: Dally (Canterbury), Elvey (Canterbury), Bell (Southland). Forwards; Williams (Otago), Tunnicliffe (Buller), O’Regan (West Coast) Blick (South land). At the conclusion of the North v. South Island game on Saturday, the selectors will announce the names of a number of certainties for the All Black team. These men will be dropped from the Possibles v. Probables match in Wellington on Tuesday, so that other players may be t ried out.
The following will represent the Foxton Thirds against Weraroa on Saturday at Weraroa: — Williams, Lockwood, Proctor, Tangurru, Perreau, O’Reilly, Huff, Vertongen, Hynes, Hartley (2), J. Shaw, Wallace, Cunningham and Anderson. Char-a-banc leaves post office at 12.30 sharp. All players must be financial. A practice will be held for all Third grade players to-night.
