A LOST FORTUNE.
NEW ZEALAND FA Ml LY’S CLAIM Gore, May 111. Regarding the report from Auckland of the Angel! estate claimants, an interview was obtained with John Francis Garvevj of Waikaia, who was said to have proof of the family connection with John Angcll, who died in 1774. Mr Garvey states much nonsense has been published but he can trace his connection with .John Angell who was his grandmother’s uncle. The estate was not released by the Chancery Court, however, owing to Angell’s death certificate having been lost, the old law evidently requiring the production'of the certificate. Angell died aboard ship when returning from India to London. Tn any ease the descendants were so numerous now that Garvey’s share would be very small. An effort was made 21) years ago by Mi' Garvey when in England to establish a claim to the estate, but all efforts failed, owing to this death certificate being missing. In his opinion there is now no likelihood of the Garvey family establishing a claim. The estate comprises sixty acres at Brixton.
