KNIFE GRINDER'S £I,OOO LEGACY TO PAL.
John Boleyn, an itinerant knifegrinder, who was found dead in a Glasgow model lodging-house has left his savings, amounting to nearly £I,OOO to John Thomson, a warehouse porter. Boleyn, who was (»:*> years of age, began work as a driller in a Clyde ship-yard. Later he was employed in Japan by an American “firm and amassed a considerable sum. Welurniug home he resumed work in the yards but becoming unfit for strenuous labour he took to the open road with a knife-grinding machined with which he toured Scotland.
He was well-educated, a capable musician, and contributed verses to the magazines under the nom do piume of “Autolycns.” The bequest is in- (lie nature of a windfall to Thomson, who lias been idle for weeks.
