FEEBLE-MINDED AND PERVERTS.
COMMISSION OF INQUIRY. Wellington, Afay 14. The Minister for Health has announced that a special committee has been set up to conduct an inquiry" into the question of the care and treatment of the feeble-minded / and sexual perverts in New Zealand. The personnel of the committee is: Hon. W. H. Triggs, ALL.C., (chairman); Dr. 0. S. Elliott and Fir Donald AlcGaviu (el : ected by the Board of Health); Air C. E. Alathews, Under-Secret-arv to the Justice Department (appointed by the Alinister for Justice) Air J. Beck, , offieer-in-charge of special schools (appointed by the Minister for Education), Dr A. G. Paterson (appointed by the Minister for Health). N Following is the order of reference. To inquire and report as to the necessity for special care: and treatment of the feeble-minded and sub-normal and to propose the several means by which such care and treatment (if any) should beiprovid- ’ ed; to- inquire and report as to the necessity for treatment of mental degenerates and persons charged with sexual offences, and to recommend, a form of , treatment for the various types of cases. It is understood Dr. Truby King wiH probably also be a member of the committee.
