Adams to lay down footpaths, etc., submitted to the last monthly meeting of the Council. The policy at that meeting was referred to the Works Committee to report on.

The Mayor said Cr. Adams was to he congratulated for his enterprise in connection with footpaths, hut unfortunately, “they had to cut the coat according to the cloth.” Some footpaths were already on the books to be done, but the most necessary, he considered, was that footpath connecting Main St. with Johnston St. past Whyte’s Hotel. To do all the work set out by Cr. (dams would necessitate the raising of a special loan and he did not think that would be advisable until all drainage work was completed. He intimated that there was sufficient material, ete. to have the works set out in the committee’s report completed by the end of the next financial year. It was decided to adopt the report, which was discussed seriatim, and that Johnston St, from \venue Road to Union St. be asphalted.
