PROHIBITION CAMPAIGN
The annual temperance sermons by a representative speaker of the New Zealand Alliance, were delivered on Sunday in the Foxton churches by Mr H. Giustead,of Palmerston X. In the morning service, Mr (tiinstead spoke ou the nature and purpose of the Kingdom of God and contrasted it with the effect of the national outcome of the organised liquor traffic. Whilst the Kingdom of God, said the speaker, stood for righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, the effect of the liquor traffic was to destroy all that the name of God stood for. The speaker asserted and gave many facts in support .that the greatest foe to the pension of God's Kingdom at home and abroad was the organised liquor traffic. These men were now busy seeing how they might exploit the heathen nations knowing perfectly wed vvlmt would happen. An Indian speaker had recently said “You may be pleased that you have made five million Christians in our land but are you pleased that you have also made fifty million drunkards of the very worst kind.” Ah earnest appeal was made to those present to stand for those things that make for peace and for righteousness. The afternoon service \vas conducted at Rangiotu,Mr Ginstead speaking on the relation of the liquor traffic to- crimes against young people. The evening service at the local Presbyteriag Church: also being conducted by him.
