METHODIST CHURCH.
FAREWELL SOCIAL TO MR. AND MRS J. BANKS. WELCOME TO NEW MINISTER. A well-attended social gathering was hold in the Methodist schoolroom on Thursday night to farewell Mr and Mrs ,T. Banks, who are leaving Foxton next week for Hastings, where Mr Banks will take over the headrnastorship of the primary school. Eulogistic speeches were made in respect of the excellent services rendered to the church by Mr and Mrs Banks, by Messrs L. Bullard and Chrystall. the latter presenting the guests witli a silver and Doulfon cake stand as a token of esteem. Mr Banks suitaids acknowledged the gift and the kindly feelings which had prompted it. Occasion was also taken to welcome llie Res-, and Mrs and Miss Perryman to the circuit. The Rev. Mr Perryman, in a happy speech acknowledged the cordiality of the greeting. PRESENTATION TO MTSS EVANS. Mr H. Osborne, choirmaster, on behalf of the choir and congregation, presented Miss Evans with a set of stainless cutlery in honour of her approaching wedding and referred to the devoted services to the church of the recipient. Mr Westwood acknowledged the gift and siiilahly responded on behalf of Miss Evans. During the evening acceptable vocal items were contributed by Mesdnmes ],. Bullard, Downes, and Misses Scadden, Phillips, Downes and Chalk. A bird guessing competition was won by Miss Chalk and Mr Fergusson. The ladies of lln* congregation provided a tasty supper at the conclusion of a most enjoyable evening.
