LOCAL POSTAL SERVICE.
The local postmaster (MrDelany) informs us that letter mails are at the present time being conveyed by service cars between Wellington, Wanganui and Palmerston North. A motor lorry left Wanganui at 6 this morning and will collect all second class mail matter (packets and parcels) en route between that office and Wellington. The service by char-a-banc between Fox ton and Palmerston North on Tuesdays and Thursdays remains as usual.
Owing to the uncertainty of the time of arrival of the cars it is impossible to adhere to a stated time for closing the mails and it is advisable to post all mail matter , for Wanganui and Auckland before 11 n.m. and for Palmerston N., Wellington and South Island not later than 3 p.m.
