BREACHES OF GAMING ACT.

NINE SUSPECTS ARRESTED.

Napier, April 22, The police this afternoon condue - ted a raid with the object of roping in persons suspected of committing breaches of the Gaming Act. Nine men were arrested. William Hutton, James Corlese, Alfred Ernest Elv.mod, Hemy James Robinson, and James Samuel Golding were charged with being the occupiers of premises kept as a common gaminghouse; Thomas Cato Paterson and J(din Albert Lo Rns with loitering in a street for the purpose of betting; Reginald Albert Orange with assisting in the conduct of a common gaming house, and William Cum with being found in a common gaming house.

All the accused appeared before the magistrate, and were remanded till Monday next, on bail.
