ELECTRICITY FOR THE SEASIDE.
MEETING OF SECTIONHOLDERS. A meeting of holders of sections at the Foxton seaside was held on Tuesday night in Palmerston North, Mr C. H. Whitehead, chairman of the Foxton Beach Improvement Committee, presiding. There was a very fair attendance. The chairman spoke at length upon the desirability of having the electric light service of the Horowlienua Power Board extended to the seaside, where there was now a rapidly increasing number of seaside residences. The matter had already been under review at the annual meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board, but the power board required a guarantee of £2OO revenue per annum from beach section holders before it would link them up with its electrical scheme. It behoved those interested to take some Stjtion at once to endeavour to secure current for it was felt that the majority of beach residents would welcome this facility. Mr E. R. B. Hoi ben, who is a member of the Foxton Harbour Board, supported the remarks of the chairman and it was decided on his motion to endeavour to secure the assent of 76 to 100 section-hol-ders to have their names appended to a petition to the power board asking for the extension of the electrical scheme to (he heads. Could 100 signatures be secured it was pointed out, it would only mean a charge of about £2 per head per annum and the number of consumers would increase steadily, thus reducing even this moderate charge required under the guarantee. It* was decided that, as soon as the required number of signatures had been secured, I lie power board he waited on. Already over 20 sec-tion-holders have expressed their agreement with the project.
