MEDICAL INSPECTOR OF SCHOOLS.
Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, medical inspector, is paying a periodical visit to the local State School, accompanied by Nurse Wise. Yesterday •and Gunn was visited by a number of parents in reference to their children’s ailments. In a conversation with Dr. Gunn, we were informed that the mouths of a majority of the children were splendid as a result of the tooth-brush drill. “But,” she added, “while the cleansing prevented further decay, there arp numbers of teeth which require attention by a dentist.” In this connection the doctor regretted that Foxton had not a school clinic for this purpose, or that some arrangement had not been made with a local dentist to carry on this work as was done in some other centres where the school clinic did not operate. Referring to the mouth wash, Dr. Gunn said the fruit-acid mouthwash was preferable to other substitutes and the cost was about 5/per lb., which quantity would make gallons of wash. Dr. Gunn suggested that the committee should purchase a supply for school use.
