FAREWELL SOCIAL.
A farewell social was- tendered to Mr I. Ross and the Misses Banks and Master J. Banks, who are leaving Foxton in the near future, in the Presbyterian Sunday schoolroom on Thursday evening by the Presbyterian Bible Class, of which all four were keen members. There was a large attendance of friends, of which Mrs John Ross was hostess. During. the evening the following rendered much apnreciated vocal items: Miss Phillips, Misses I. and M. Patterson, M. Downes, Mesdnmes Codd and Slade. Mr Hornblow. Miss I. Speirs opened the evening with a pianoforte selection and Messrs Davidson and C. Cronquest also contributed items. Interspersed with the items were games and a competition in which all joined in. Miss Fahey presiding at the piano.
At a suitable interval in the evening, Mr Davidson, president of the Bible Class, called on the Rev. McDonald to make a presentation to Mr T. Ross, on behalf of the Bible Class. In doing so, Mr McDonald said that they were sorry to lose such a good assistant in church work as they had in Mr Ross, hut ho was going l to different parts to see and leani the ways of the world, which he considered was a good thing to do provided he kept in the right path. After a few words of advice lie presented him with a Waterman fountain pen and hoped that lie would always remember his as-.-di-iatioiis with the Foxton Presbyterian Cliureh.
Mr 1. Ross, thanking those present for their kindness and the speaker for his kind remarks said that he could not forget the happy times spent in Foxton. What impressed him most of all was the good fellowship and brotherhood that manifested itself that night towards him. Tn his travels he would always remember the church and his many good friends left behind in Foxton.
Mr Davidson then made a presentation to the Misses Ranks and Master .Tames Banks on behalf of the Bible Class and expressed regret at their departure from Foxton. and referred to the tine way in which they had helped him in the work of the Bible Class. Miss Banks returned thanks on behalf of her sister and brother.
A tasty supper was then handed round and brought a. close to a most enjoyable evening.
