CARTERTON FAREWELLS REV. PERYMAX. On Saturday evening last, the Carterton Methodist Church was crowded with a representative ga--1 boring to farewell the Rev and Mrs and Miss Pervman, prior to their departure for Foxton, where Mr !‘er\hnau will take rbarge of the Foxton Methodist e ; rcnit. Mr J. A. Ordish. senior circuit steward, presided. After expressing regret at the minister’s departure, he concluded bv saying that he had found .Mi Peryrnan to be a gentleman ill the highest sense of the word and he expressed disapproval of the church’s rule which provided for the frequent* Changes in regard to ministers.

Early in the evening Master Al- - Chalmers presented Mrs Perymnn. with a beautiful bouquet of roses, gypsophila and autumn tinted leaves..

Mr W. A. Kitdben (chairman of the Carterton District High School Committee) said lie had found in Mr Peryrnan a capable secretary and a good companion. The more he had come in contact with him, the more he appreciated and respected him. Tn conveying his best wishes to the guests of flip evening he said that if the people of Foxton did not appreciate Mr Peryrnan they would not appreciate anyone.'. The Rev. Mr Black spoke in glowing terms of Mr Peryman’s work in the welfare of the whole community and said that he would he sadly missed by those with whom he had been associated. On : behalf of the Presbyterians of Carterton and district, he conveyed bis sincere regret at. Mr and Mrs Peryman's departure and wished them success and happiness in their new circuit in Foxton.

Mr Edie (headmaster)- spoke of tlie willing assistance rendered by Mi Perymnn in all matters aperlaining to school affairs. He was quite sure that his place would be hard In lill and Carterton’s loss would be Foxton’s gain. He referred to the great and important work done by Mrs Peryrnan. Mr 11. Callister, who was referred .to bv the chairman as “the father of the Chureh,” expressed himself as extremely sorry that Mr and Mrs Peryrnan were leaving Carterton. He knew by experience what a good friend Mr Peryrnan was in time of trouble. He referred to Mrs Pervman.as being New Zealand’s “Lady A stor.” '' %

Mr Wilton spoke on behalf of the Sunday School and choir and extended to Mr and Mrs and Miss Peryrnan their best wishes for future happiness.

Fairbrother was called upon and in a very happy speech asked Mr and Mrs Perymau to accept a cheque from the member’s of the Methodist Churches in the circuit as a token of the love and esteem in which they are held. JVLicss -Perryman was then presented with a brush and comb. Mr Peryrnan (who was greeted with acclamation) feelingly thanked them for their gifts, for their good wishes and for the kind things said about them. Although he was not a very good correspondent he would not forget the friends he was leaving when removing from the circuit but remembered them before God in his prayers. Mrs Peryrnan also spoke briefly. She. said there were occasions when the heart was too lull for words and this was one of them.

Mr Peryrnan will take up his duties at Foxton in about a fortnight’s time.
