SPORTS MEETING.

RACECOURSE TO-MORROW. The inaugural sports meeting of the United Sports Association will he held on the Racecourse to-mor-row, commencing at 11 a.m. The local’'-Retailers’ Association ’ have declared a holiday from 10.30 a.m. and the school committee have granted a school holiday in order that the children may compete in the primary school events. The Citizens’ Rand will march from the Rost Office lo the Racecourse and play selections on the ground during the day. Upon the success of to-morrow’s meeting will depend the holding of a carnival week in Foxton in January when in conjunction with the annual i-aee meeting it is proposed to hold a two days aequafic sports and two days’ athletic sports gathering.

Provided the public rally to the support of the Association. the carnival week will he set afoot and Foxton will benefit by a special boost of this nature, hacked by nalural facilities, second to . none in flic Dominion. The racecourse with its -shelter and public"appointments is ideal for horse and athletic epents while the river and seaside provide all tTifTl’Ts'lcquiml for sonllingTind aquatic sports. The committee is well satisfied with the encouragement it. has received for the initial meeting and a and district people"'is'expected on the racecourse to-morrow. Apart from.the horse, cycling and chopping events, the children will be particularly catered for. - , Luncheon and refreshments swill be provided on the ground. All primary school children will be admitted to the sports free of charge. The day’s outing will conclude with a dance in the Masonic Hall in the evening.
