MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the above Board was held at. Palmerston N. on Thursday, Mr R. T. Bell presiding. Also present were: Messrs 11. Akers, A. Anderson, N. P. Nielsen, A. Seifert, W. Wilton and W. S. Carter. ENGINEER’S REPORT. Reporting on the different works carried out during the month, the engineer stated that Messrs Ward and Salmon had completed field work on the Manawatu to railway bridge, and on the Oroua to Pearce’s slaughter-house, and expected to finish the field work altogether by the end of May. Plans had been prepared showing proposed main outlets for Moutoa, Buckley, and the Kohuturoa districts, and these would be submitted to the Drainage Boards for consideration. In regard to Burke’s drain outlet, a conference was to take place between the engineer and the Kairanga County Council engineer to arrive at a decision as to the best procedure to adopt in the location and design of a flood gate on Burke’s drain. This matter was held up pending a meeting of the Drainage Board and County Council. Classification work would be held up pending the result of the petition of addition to certain Lands to the River Board’s District. —Adopted. It was decided that Mr A. V. Akers’ proposed protection work be permitted by the Board, on the recommendation of the engineer he having advised the Board that the work would in no way have any ill effect on the River Board’s district.
Accounts amounting to £149 0/10 were passed for payment.
