Beautiful weather prevailed for the iirsl day of the Wellington Racing Club’s Autumn meeting which was held on Thursday. The totalisator handled £40,447 as against £58,503 111/- for the same day last year. Results; — North island Challenge Stakes. — Gloaming 1, Quiescent 2. The only starters. Won by four lengths. Time 1.27 4-5. New Zealand Su Leger. mena i, Tarieton 2, Polymnion 3. W on by two lengths. Time 3 min. High Weight Handicap. —Musical 1, The Curragh 2, Viewpoint 3. Won by haif-a-iength. Time 2.8. Plunket Nursery Handicap: — Fathers Voice 1, Lady BenUnck 2, Tuahine 3. Won by four lengths, rune 2.0 1-5.
Thompson Handicap: — Sunny Loch 1, Alfort 2, Suggestion 3. Won by very little. Time 1.38 4-5.
Siiverstream Handicap.—Dancing Doll 1, Clandhu 2, imperial Spark 6. Won by haif-a-iength. Time 1.39 3/5. Railway Handicap:— Martian Miss 1, King Merv 2, liuzzle Dazzle J. Won by a neck. Time 1.11 4-5. Tinakori Handicap. —Piquant 1, Gold Town 2, Kenmore and Avonlea (dead heat) 3. Won by a length, tune 1.13.
