CITIZEN’S SILVER BAND.
VISIT TO SANSON. A most successful dance was held iti aid of the Foxton Citizens’ Silver Band. The floor space was crowded. The Band played waltz music during the evening and were compimented upon the excellent time. The humorous jazz quartette consisting of Messrs J. Perreau (conductor), J. Madden, B. Newtli, and B. Chalk, caused great amusement and were recalled by the dancers. Air B. Barnett’s turn as an Oriental snake channel- was also much appreciated and caused roars of laughter. Mr J. Golder also contributed a couple of humorous items. The Band played at the sports during the day and in the evening rendered a few selections in front of Air Anderson’s residence for the benefit of some sick children. The bandsmen were hospitably entertained at tea by Mi's Bowater. Oil behalf of the sports committee, Mr J. Linklater, ALP., complimented the band upon the programme of music during the day. While the band was playing the opening selection at the sports, a hefty piper in full Highland rig, tapped Conductor Golder on the shoulder and said: “Stop that row and come and listen to the music of the pipes!” ' The band accepted the invitation but were not cnarmoured of the monotonous repetition of two bars of a lament. The band re-assemb-led and forthwith out-blew the pipers much to the amusement of the crowd.
