CORRESPONDENCE.
(To The Editor.) Sir, —I am glad that my letter to your paper of Tuesday last has drawn the so-called ‘Welfare League” out of its shell and revealed its true colours. If there was any doubt before, it is clear now that, this so-called “Welfare League” is the champion of the wealthy conservative party. Why does it not be quite frank and change its name to what it really is, “the Reform Party’s League.” It has not attempted to justify its hasty condemnation of Ramsey Ale Donald, for which my letter took it to task. Its silence on that point can only be taken for an admission that it was wrong, and it has climbed down by acknowledging Mr Ramsey McDonald’s sterling worth and greatness. Perhaps it will not be long before the whole “Reform” Party (also self-styled) will he forced to acknowledge the sterling worth of the Liberal-Labour Party whose motive is “the uplifting of humanity." But why does this so-called “Welfare League” not answer the simple question put in my letter? I will put it again in another form, perhaps il will he easier to answer. The aim of the “Reform” Party now in oflice is selfishness, the aim of the Liberal-Labour Party is “the welfare of humanity.” Which is the nobler aim and which of these parties does the so-called Welfare Leaquo support /- —1 am etc. P. L. HOLLINGS. (To The Editor). I.irar -Sir, — Alight I he permitted to ask what is to be done with the German guns captured by our lads during ihe war, and allocated to Foxton As far as lam aware they are at present lying in the Council yard, and being Used to train pumpkins over. In other towns these guns have been painted and put in some prominent position. Surely Foxton can do the same, at any rate take them from out of the Council yard. —Yours, etc. SOLDAT.
