UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.

.MEETING GF COMMITTEE.

A committee meeting of the above was held last night, presided over by Mr W. E. Barber. There were also present: Messrs Neylon, Alexander, Thomson, R. Bryant, E. Parkin. Christie, Perreau, Pearson, Austin, Hutchins and H. Robinson. Mr McMurray tendered his resignation as assistant secretary which was accepted with regret and it was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to Mr McMurray in his connection with his illness. A letter of sympathy was also authorised to be sent to Mr A. N. .smith in connection with his recent bereavement. file programme for the meeting was discussed and several alterations made, it was decided to increase the prize money by £6 6/-. The programme as revised was then adopted. Messrs Perreau, Christie, Thornsou aud the secretary were appointed an advertising committee. The following officials were appointed : Judges:—Chopping: J. Thomson and E. G. Alexander; horse events: Mr J. Cameron; running and cycling Messrs A. X. [Smith, JD. Christie, R. Bryant; Starters: E. Parkin and L Prop tor; timekeepers: W. .Neville and F. Carmont. Conveners were appointed as follows: —Horse events: Mr VV. .Neylon; running and cycling: Mr C. A» Pearson; chopping, Mr Hutchins. Protest Commitee: Messrs Jewell, Barber aud Bryant, It was resolved that the school committee, Retailers' Association, and Flaxmiilers be written to asking for a full holiday on the day of the sports. It was decided to ask the Foxton Silver Band to be in attendance on the day of the sports. Mi- M. E. Perreau was appointed caterer and it was resolved that side-shows be allowed on the ground at a fee of £2 2/-. A Town Committee consisting of Messrs Bryant, Parkin, Pearson, 1). Christie, Thomson, Perreau and A. N, fcjmith was set up. The usual compliment to the chair concluded the meeting.
