ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE RAIDED.
Mastcrton, Thursday. The fact of a hairdressing saloon ni Queen St. being a literal hive of industry on race days and usually accommodating numbers of men allegedly there i'or other than tonsorial purposes, caused the police to suspect that the premises were currying on business other than that advertised on the shop front. Being anxious to confirm this suspicion, the police took advantage to-day, it being the second day of tne Dannevirke races and raided the premises. The proprietor bf the saloon, Alexander White, an employee John Collins, and a man named Neich were arrested and charged at the couit, White with keeping a gaming house, Eeich with assisting in conducting it and Collins with being on the premises. A remand was granted to March 6, and defendants were released on baiL
