MINISTERIAL VISIT.

The Hon C. .T. Parr, Minister for Education and .Justice, accompanied by bis secretaries and Mrs Parr passed through Foxton yesterday morning en route to Wellington per motor ear and made a brief stay. The Minister and Mrs Pair, accompanied by Mr Horn blow, chairman of Commiltee, visited the school and were received by the headmaster, Mr Banks. After making an inspection of the class rooms, the Hon. Mr Parr addressed the assembled scholars. He congratulated them lnion possessing the finest primary school building in the Dominion and expressed the hope that such a splendid environment hacked by an efficient staff, would be justified not only in their studies hut in the larger life before them. He spoke of the ernniped accommodation and old buildings where children received their education in other parts of the Dominion, a condition which he was endeavouring to improve. He then spoke to them of the studies which made for the highest type of manhood and womanhood. He referred to the fact that in this county the highest positions and opportunities were open to all. provided they worked conscientiously. He referred to the fact that he started his education in a small part time country school under very different conditions- to what they enjoyed at Foxton. He urged them to work hard and play the game, to stick by their mates in true comradeship. The Minister was lustily cheered hv the scholars at the conclusion of his address.
The Minister then inspected the Con it House, at the request of the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, with a request, that the old building he demolished and a new and up-to-date structure be erected. in its stead. Tbc Minister obtained details of the ago of the building and promised to give the matter attention.
