In attempting to ride a bicycle this morning over a narrow footbridge crossing the Managapapa Creek, on the outskirts of Gisborne, Captain Gustaf Peter Solvander, overbalanced and fell fifteen feet. Apparently he crawled up the bank but died of injuries and shock. Deceased was seventy-one years of age and was sBVftntCBR years captain of the dredge John Townley. He had lived here for forty-six years.
