VALEDICTORY.
On Saturday afternoon the ladies of (he Foxton Croquet Club assembled on the green to bid farewell to Alt's Wyliie, who is leaving the district to take up her residence in New Plymouth. There was a large attendance of members. After partaking of a dainty afternoon tea, Atrs Owen (vice-president) in the absence of the president (Mrs Perreau) expressed the club’s regret at Mrs Wyllie’s departure. She stated rlmt since .Mrs Wvllie had been a member of the club for the past three years she had been a keen and enthusiastic player and had also rendered valuable sendee to players by reason of her knowledge of tlie game and past experience gained in other clubs. Tha club also appreciated her services in inter-club matches as second player. Her absence from the green would he felt, by all. Mrs Owen then asked the guest to accept from the dub a Doulton fruit bowl as a token of esteem and a memento of her association with the local club. The presentation was accompanied by a hearty cheer and applause. Mrs Wvllie feelingly acknowledged tlie presentation and the kind expressions which accompanied the gift and wished the club every success in the future.
At the conclusion those present took part in a golf croquet tournament which, was thoroughly appreciated. Miss Speirs won the trophy-
