JAPANESE NAVAL CADETS.
VISIT TO LEVIN. MR LINKLATER’S WELCOME. Mr .T. Linklaler, M.P., in welcoming the Japanese naval visitors to Levin on Wednesday, said that as seamen, they would not plerhaps find so much (o interest them in the Uorowhenna district as if they were farmers, hut they would appreciate its importance as one of the most productive parts of New Zealand. He instanced the growing importation of New Zealand wool to Japan and looked forward to the day when this trade would he extended to other of our products. He spoke enlogistienlly of the service Japan had rendered to the Allies by her naval support during the war, and went on to state that both of the countries had much in common. They were both islands and they were both subject to earthquakes. Tn this connection he would like to say that when the news of the recent Japanese disaster had reached New Zealand, Hie very sineerest sympathy had been felt throughout the country for (he unfortunate sufferers in that terrible catastrophe. TTe was very glad to see that they were speedily getting back to normal again. He again extended to them a welcome to the district. The Japanese and British nations had long been Allies and he trusted that nothing would ever come to alter the friendship between the two races (applause).
