MANGAHAO WORKS
SCHEME PROGRESSING RAPIDLY.
“The Mangnhao hydro-electric works are now being rapidly proceeded with,” stated Air W. A. Waters, chief engineer of the Ma-nawatu-Oroua Power Board to a “Standard” reporter yesterday. “-Much progress is being made with the concreting of the Arapeti dam, which work is being advanced in a very satisfactory manner,” he added. "At Mangahao the foundations are now well above the normal water level and no time is being lost in pushing on with the construction work there. The completion of the tunnel entrance is well under way and the main control gate will soon he erected. When this has been clone faster progress can be made on the main dam, as any flood waters will then be prevented from going through the tunnel to Arapeti."
