UNION SECRETARY IN TROUBLE.

Christchurch, January 27,

It. D. Martin, the secretary of the Bakers’ and Pastrycooks’ Union, was arrested on Saturday on charges of theft of moneys belonging to the Union. Martin was at one time a member of the City Council, defeating Mr C. H. Agar at a by-election, but be was not re-elected at the last election. He also stood, unsuccessfully, for Kaiapoi, at the last election.
