GRAVE CHARGES
YOUNG SCHOOL TEACHER PLEADS GUILTY.
Nelson, January 25. Hubert Reginald Holdaway, a school teacher, aged 27, a single man, pleaded guilty to-day to three charges of indecent assault on boys while camping out. He was committed to the Supreme Court, at Wellington, for sentence. Holdawny’s arrest caused a painful sensation among his friends and those associated with him in various brandies of church and social welfare work. He Inis been assistant teacher at the Boys’ Central School for about four years, entering actively into the sports after school hours; lie was also a local preacher and lender of the liible class, and at tlie time of hi? arrest was at. Afurehison with a party of bible students who were on a cycling tour. All the three informations he pleaded guilty to, were in respect of happenings to boys’ camps in the Mahal Valley, of which Holdaway Avas in charge. The first offence occurred in December, .1922, and the others in November and December lasi year.
