TALK OF SENSATIONAL DEVELOPAIENTS. Blenheim, January 25. A hint- of sensational developments in municipal matters Avas contained in a brief discussion at the Borough Council meeting last evening on the subject of the resignation of the borough engineer, Mr 11. AL W. Richardson. At the conclusion of the meeting Councillor W. T. Churchward said he desired to move the following: — (1) That Mr Richardson be requested to withdraw his resignation as borough engineer upon the completion of the waterworks and Waterlea footbridge; (2) That Air Richardson continue io act as borough engineer in conformity with duties to be definitely set out. “Air Richardson’s resignation is due to a quarrel wit-li the Mayor, Air E. S. Parker,” said Councillor Churchward. “The engineer alleged that, the Mayor insulted him and therefore resigned. The Alayor objected and the matter is being taken without notice of motion, because there was more behind it than Councillors Avere aware of.” Councillor Churchward went oil to state that it appeared as if the council would have to choose betAveen the Alavor and engineer. Councillor ChurcliAvard then gave formal notice of motion.
