PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.

At last night’s Council meeting the Reserves Committee’s report was read, portion of which contained a recommendation that the swimming baths be erected midway on the south side of Easton Park. Cr. \\ alker said that- he was opposed to baths being erected in Easton Park. The Council site was the more suitable one. Cr. Thompson also objected to the Ea.'tou Park site. Cr. Smith pointed out that there was a motion already on the books definitely setting down Easton Park as the site for swimming baths. The motion that the report be adopted and that Mr Edwards be requested to prepare plans for new site, cost nyt to exceed £I,OOO, was then carried, with Crs. Walker, Adams, Bryant, and Thompson voting against.
