ENTERTAINMENTS

THE BIG HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS. William Russell in a William McLeod Rainc story, “Man’s Size,” has been selected to open a big feature season at the Town Hall to-night. The settings are in the Canadian Rockies, whilst ihe story <>f the Scot Angus Mcßae, who after being icebound in the Artie for two years returns to find that he has been reported dead, and that his wife has married his partner is full of novel drama and punchy scenes. William Russell is assisted by a most, capable cast headed by Alma. Bennett and James Gordon. Al. St. John, one of the Town Hall’s laughter guarantors,. will grace the screen to-night in “Out. of place.” Also “Alligator Hunting” and Fox News. Prices Od and 1/0, children 3d and fid. Mark Twain never wrote a funnier story and William Fox never made a funnier picture than “A Connecticut Yankee at King Arthur’s Court.” This picture is to he shown on Christmas Eve. It is a tale of a very up-to-date young man who was suddenly transported back to 528 A.D. and to old King Arthur’s Court. See him lead the knights into battle on Indian motor cycles, with himself leading in a Ford, The east is an excellent one. On Boxing night a big Cabaret programme will be screened at usual prices. The star item will he “A Daughter of Luxury,” starring Agnes Ayres and a special comedy: “A Bedroom Scandal.”

SPEND YOUR EVENINGS AT THE ROYAL PICTURES. A sparkling comedy drama, that goes with a snap, is the “Hottentot,” starring Madge Bellamy, which is to be screened at the Royal Theatre to-night. The fun of the play grows out of a case of mistaken identity. Sam Harrington is a man who has braved the Cannibal Isles. Fear is unknown to him —except when there are horses within reach of him Invited to a country home for a party, he becomes the accidental hero of a runnawny and is mistaken by the girl he saves for a famous jockey of the same name. Then, well come and see. Comedy: “We’ll get you yet.” On Monday May Alison appears in the play that made the weather famous, “Fair and Warm.” This is the funniest farce ever written with prices only 9d and 1/6, children as usual.

On Wednesday night the great circus picture, “Sawdust,” starring Gladys Walton will he shown. Miss Walton has the role of Nita, the tight-rope walker, around whom the threads of the story are woven, and the part affords her an opportunity to display her athletic skill as well as her dramatic ability. The picture presents her in her strongest role, perhaps, since her appearance in “Pink Tights,” another stoiy of circus life in which she scored a tremendous hit. Extra: Chapter 1 of “The Social Buccaneer.”
