« ROYAL PICTURES. With the South Sea Islands and New York East Side for its locale “Pawned,” to be shown at the Royal Tlieatre to-morrow night, is one of the most striking melodramas of the season. Tom Moore supported by Edith Roberts, is in the leading role, and is featured as a young man who offers to investigate the supposed shady contracts that are being carried out in a series of New York gambling dens. The story is chock full of action and ends in one of the most amazing climaxes. Comedy “Any Old Port.” Lovers of good horseflesh will welcome Thomas 11. luces’ production of the “Hottentot,” which comes to the Royal Theatre on Saturday night. In this picturisation of the famous Willie Collier stage success, the steeplechase scene is spectacularly presented, with Douglas MaeLean playing Collier's role of Sam Harrington, the boy mortally afraid of horses, who rides to please his sweetheart. Coming next week: — “The Three Musketeers,” “Sawdust,” a great circus comedy. “THE MONKEY’S PAW” TO-NIGHT. Those who have read the delightful stories of W. W. Jacobs, the famous English author, will recall “The Monkey’s Paw,” included in the volume of short stories entitled “The Lady of the Barge.” “The Monkey’s Paw” will be screened for one night only at the Town Hall tonight. The plot hinges on the danger of meddling with fate, and is carried through many eerie and breath-catching, shuddersome scenes to a crashing climax that brings a lump to your throat and a chill to your heart. From the scene when the soldier brings the mysterious talisman, ' “The Monkey’s Paw,” (which grants its holder three wishes) back from India, right through the many adventurous reels, the film must be rated A.l. entertainment. It will he supported to-night by a two-reel comedy, News and Magazine. Prices 1/- and 1/6, children 3d and fid. On Saturday at ustfal prices, William Russell will bef seen in “Man’s Size,” a William McLeod'Rhine story of the Canadian North woods.
