IMPERIAL DEFENCE

SIR JOSEPH WARD’S SERVICES. MR MASSEY’S TRIBUTE. London, December 11. The Rosyth Shipbuilding Company has presented the New Zealand Government with an inkstand made of teak and copper from the battle cruiser New Zealand; and also cigar boxes from the ship’s timber for Mr Massey, Sir Joseph Ward and Sir James Allen. Mr Massey, in accepting the gifts, paid a tribute to Sir Joseph Ward’s action in presenting the New Zealand to the Admiralty. Although he and Sir Joseph Ward might differ on political questions, they were at one on the value of Imperial defence. «.
