INTER-CLUB AIATCHES. The first round of the inter-club matches arranged by the Alanawatu Croquet Association was commenced in Palmerston North on Thursday. Teams from Hunterville, Foxton, Levin and Woodville, in addition to local players, took part and general satisfaction with the arrangements was voiced by the visitors. The standard of play attained was high and keen competition was manifested. The second round will lie decided during the coming week. Following are the results of tho first round: —Foxton v. North Street v. Woodville. —Airs John Young and Airs Mayes heat.
