THE BRITISH ELECTION
HOOLIGANS AT MEETINGS. London, December 4. Wild outbursts of hooliganism in many directions are increasingly hampering the Conservative and Liberal candidates. Mr Brown, the Conservative candidate for Edmonton, lias abandoned all meetings in consequence of rowdyism. A Glasgow Conservative has engaged two local boxers as a constant bodyguard. Under threats of damage to property, many residents throughout England have withdrawn window cards and posters. Similarly, motorists are declining to lend motor cars for election day. The disturbers of meetings, who are liable to £IOO line and imprisonment, adopt a cunning system, individually creating a disturbance until warned as the law directs, when the task .of interruption is carried on by a confederate in another part of the building.
