- MONTHLY MEETING. - The Manawatu County - Council met- on Tuesday when there were present :;'Grs. Sir James Wilson ~~7( chairman), H. H. Hunt, J. Boyce, W. E. Barber, S. Penny, H. J. Fagan anrl J. McKelvie. . CORRESPONDENCE. From the Auckland city traffic inspector enquiring as to the possibility of the council agreeing to a ' reciprocal arrangement in connection with the cancellation of certificates of competency to drive motor cars issued by the Auckland City Council. The last named had eancelled the certificates of nine drivers during the past 12 months for negligent and dangerous driving, and being in charge of a motor vehicle while in a. state of intoxication. It was sought to prevent any driver so deprived of his license from securing another one from some other local body.—Received, the clerk mentioning that, this matter had been attended*to at a conference of several of the adjacent local bodies, held at Feilding, to discuss the question of a uniform set of bylaws. The-counties concerned in this movement would have a joint report and Something tangible before them by January. From the Foxton Borough Coun- • cil, asking for a contribution of half the cost of street lamps proposed to be erected along the boundary roads of the borough.—lt was decided that the Manawatu County Council should not be involved in any further expense than that to which it had already been put in this connection. “
From the secretary of the Oroua Downs Co-operative Dairy Coy. Ltd. asking for information as to a previous agreement with the council concerning the use of a siding on the tramline, as the rights conferred upon the company by such an agreement would a fled the matter of carting of produce to Wellington this year.—Cr. Barber and the clerk were deputed to wait upon the directors’of the company at their next meeting. GENERAL. The clerk was authorised to enter into negotiations for the purchase of two additional trunks for the tramway. —Tt was decided, on the motion of Cr. Barber, seconded by Cr. Boyce that the matter of the bridge on. South St. proposed to be reconstructed by the Feilding Borough Council he loftJn the hands of the chairman with power to act, as regards the assistance to he given . by the Manawatu Council. On the motion of Cr. Fagan, it was decided to erect a notice hoard in Sanson township prohibiting the parking of cjjiswithin a Ah ain of the hotel CcornerT'The engineer was granted permission to attend the conference of civil engineers to be held at Dunedin on February 19, 1924. It was agreed to spend up to £.lO in ronding work at Foxton Heads. It was decided that the next meeting of the ronneil be held on January 15. Accounts totalling £l,34fi 16s were passed for payment. The following alterations in the rate roll were notified: A. C. Lane to H.M. the King, Awahuri sections; R. H. and W. E. Barter to Moutoa Hall Committee, part section Monica Block; F. L. A. Gotz to J. E. Jenkinson, part of lot 14, section 84, Sanson; P. Hehir to J. P. Hehir section 71, block Hr., Douglas Block; same to M. J. Hehir, section 70, block HI., Douglas Block; F. Christie to T. Bouess, section 67, Taugimoana; J. W. Peacock to C, G. Beattie, section 5, and part section 6, block HI. Te Hawaii;
