PECULIAR PEOPLE
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER, RELIANCE ON FAITH. London, December 2. Henry Purkiss and his wife, both members of a sect known as “Peculiar People,” have been commitled for trial on a charge of the manslaughter of their three-year-old son by neglecting to provide proper medical aid. It was stated that the child died from laryngeal diphtheria and if an anti-toxin injection had been given his life would have been saved. The parents, who deposed (lint they had not secured a doctor because it was against their faith called two elders of the sect to lav bauds on, anoint and pray for the child.
