CHURCH RAFFLES.
Thames, Yesterday. The secretary of the Catholic Bazaar appeared before Mr Salmon, S.M., this morning charged with a breach of the Gaming Act. It appeal’s that at a recent bazaar there were offered several raffles for which permission had not been given by the Department. 'The authorities of the bazaar, howevei’, gave with 'each article raffled a gift of greater value. 'The defendant pleaded guilty, and the Magistrate ordered a conviction as the case was brought to show that churches must be careful with raffles,
