ENGINEER’S TRIUMPH. THE RIVER "BEATEN. The site of the Mangahao dam is at present a scene of industry, said Mr W. .V. For months the engineers and staff have toiled to divert the course of the river and have put in temporary diversion darns, floods hampered the wiiik considerably in the past, but the recent spell of flue weather has enabled the engineers to triumph and the work is being prosecuted with all speed. Yesterday afternoon Mangahao presented a busy scene; all the stone crushers and concrete mixers, t emporary railways., * and cranes were working at tog 'speed, and this had been going"'oii; uLT the previous night—three"* shifts' being Abater in the ,fresh;gangs,of men arrived, and the jshifts; were changed, and the animated scene continued during the night, , ..'
