(To The Editor). Sir, —Do you not think the Borough Council acted unwisely in not carrying out the gas manager’s recommendation in connection with the reduced charges for gas? If his suggestion had been carried out, it would, in my opinion, have stopped n number of people from changing over to tin- electric light. Again, the policy of “penny wise and pound foolish” has been exemplified. What is the use of asking the Power Board to take over the gas works after (10 per cent, of Foxton consumers have signed up for electricity for lighting? In our gas manager we have one of the best in his line and yet his advice is turned down. It would have been much better for the council, in the present case, to have given him a free hand to deal with the matter. That the Council has made a mis—take in its half-pie action will dawn on them later. —Yours etc. CONSUMER.
