BOWLING.
The gala day as arranged by the Centre Executive was held on the local green yesterday, and was a very successful function. Twelve rinks took part in the play, Foxte., mustering five rinks and the visTfSrsr were representative of Palmerston North (2 rinks), Shannon (2 rinks), Feilding, Terrace End and Takaro (one rink each). The president (Air D. Christie), welcomed the visitors- in a brief speech, and said that although they would not find the green as good as it might he, nevertheless the weather was good—it is always good in Foxton. He had no doubt players would have a good afternoon’s play, and, he Lusted, au enjoyable time. A telegram was read from Levin Club regretting inability to he represented. Aiken, AlcLeod, AlcEwen, J. If. Stevens (s), Palmerston N. 28, Healey, Walker, Ball, Christie (s) 19. Aim, Clayton, Alurray, Alurphy (s), Shannon 22; AValton, Howe, D. Whibley, Pearson (s), 17. Bavliss, Wall, Alorris, Allan (s), Palmerston North, 19; Shannon, Burns, Edwards, AlcKegg (s), Shannon, 17. A tasty afternoon tea dispensed by members of the Croquet Club was much appreciated. Representatives of the Feilding Clul) who were, present at yesterday’s gala day, mentioned that their club, was anxious that Foxton howlers should visit Feilding en force ni an early date and the compliment will he returned at a time convenient to Foxton howlers. The Feilding green is said to he in tip-top playing order just now.
The annual Triangular Contest is now about due to commence, according to the rules set down to govern the competition, but so far no intimation has been received from the Levin Club who, as holders of the Shield, are entitled to suggest, the dates for the matches.
An erstwhile enthusiastic member of Foxton Club, Air Percy Lumsden, who is enjoying a brief stay in Foxton, was a visitor to the green yesterday afternoon.
