SWIMMING NOTES.
Sunday morning witnessed one of the largest crowds of bathers yet seen at. the wharf. It is estimated that fifty bathers turned up for a dip and about twenty went across to the other side to enjoy a “mud bath.” The. river was ideal for swimming, although rather low. In the afternoon a good number were a iso in, when high and fancy diving was the order of the day, Morning dips are now gaining popularity, several swimmers patronising the river yesterday morning and this morning. Trophies in connection with the forthcoming sports are now on display in Mr D. Ball’s window. The secretary has received a programme of the Feilding Swimming Club’s evening carnival, to be held on December sth, commencing at 7.30 p.m. There are seventeen events of all descriptions. Anyone wishing to enter in any event in this carnival will have to do so before Thursday, November 29th. The programme is posted up at the wharf.
