Manawatu Herald. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1923. FOXTON’S SEASIDE RESORT.
PRACTICALLY all Ibe necomniodnlion at the local seaside lias been hooked up for Ihe coming holiday season and enquiries are si ill cnniing in from all parts of tlie dislriel, which, however, cannot lie satisfied. The Harbour Board has surveyed and laid off a number of sections which will be submit led at public auction within a week or so. When these are taken up and built on the seaside will present the appearance of a thriving- township. During- the past two or three years the Harbour Board and Beach Improvement Committee has carried out a number of improvements in the nature of roads which give access to the sections, the planting of suitable trees and reclaiming the sand drift areas. A new road which gives direct access to the sanitarium, to' be called T.inldnter Avenue, has been formed and grassed. This road will ultimately the principal thoroughfare, and steps should be taken to have it metalled. In this connection the Mnnawalu County Council should be approached for a grant in aid. Those who have taken up sections have not only spent n good deal on improving their holdings, lull, have assisted in a general way. to make the seaside attraetive. The locality is doubly attractive in that if possesses not only a splendid sea frontage, but a river foreshore for safe bathing and boating. The glowing trees will afford shelter and oosey nooks, and there is it large lennis court and hall for recreation and social purposes. Within a lew years there is no doubt but that the Fox ton seaside will Id* second to none in New Zealand.
