TWO MEN MESSING. t Christchurch, .November 3. Low Lhian Thompson and John Cowper, both aged 45, are believed to have been drowned by the capsizing of a llat-bottomed boat at the mouth of the Waimakariri River last evening, while going out- to save the lauucii Celtic which had drifted to sea. The meu were last seen swimming towards the launch. The Celtic was seen by the captain of the Maori early this morning near Sumner. It was apparently under control but there was no sign of life aboard. Eaiapoi people believe that the. men had but little chance of reaching the launch. —Christchurch, .November 4. Incoming steamers to-day report that nothing was seen of the missing launch or of the meu Thompson and Cowper.
